I have just started getting serious about landscape photography and one thing you quickly learn is the importance of neutral density filters, in particular, graduated neutral density filters, to achieving the best results. Graduated ND filters from the leading manufacturers (e.g., Lee) are expensive; they are quality products, but they are expensive. They are also generally made from a resin material, which has the advantage of a very smooth gradation in the density of the dye that is used, but they also can be scratched. Since I spend a lot of time hiking about the out-of-doors and am not always as gentle with my equipment as a professional photographer might be, I was attracted to the ICE filters because they are made of optical glass. Not only that, each comes in its own hard plastic protective case that I can just drop into my backpack. The quality is excellent, perhaps 90 percent that of a top-brand filter but at 60 percent of the cost. The filters do impart the very slightest bluish ("cold" in photographer-speak) cast to images, but this is barely perceptible and, if you do notice it, easily removed in post-processing. I think this is an excellent graduated ND filter set for those wanting to get their feet wet in landscape photography.
